The NSA Spied on Barack Obama in 2004, Says Russ Tice
Tice told Sibel Edmonds’ radio show that back in 2005 the NSA didn’t have the processing power, infrastructure, and storage to collect everything, but a source inside the NSA today confirmed to him that increased capabilities allow the spy agency to copy “every domestic communication in this country, word for word, content, every phone conversation, every email — they are collecting everything in bulk and putting it in databases.”

Tice said “there’s no way the programs I want to talk to Congress about should be public ever, unless maybe in 200 years they want to declassify them. You should never learn about it; no one at the Times should ever learn about these things. But that same mechanism that allows you to have a program like this at an extremely high, sensitive classification level could also be used to mask illegality, like spying on Americans.”[2]
So, before everyone starts “Snowdening” (a term close to Borking but utilzed by a better class of people) we have at least one data point on Tice’s credibilty. His 2005 allegations regarding Warrantles Wiretaping of Americans were true as the current laws are a reaction to those allegations and were designed to prevent them.
Extrapolation is always dangerous but it seems that we would be very safe to assume that concerns from people like Tice et al, should be taken seriously.
